My pig Alice has probably got cancer (vet won’t do any more investigations on her as she’s elderly ) and sometimes when she eats, she struggles to breathe afterwards and makes a funny noise for about half an hour. It seems to mainly happen after vegetables (kale, parsley, apple and carrot), she also has hay and nuggets which seem to go down fine. She’s always had a large appetite and is keen to eat. Should we not be giving her any vegetables at all?

I don’t think she should be taken off them. Perhaps you could cut them into strips? Also, kale and parsley shouldn’t be fed too often, they’re high in calcium. Fruits and carrots also an occasional treat.

Sorry to hear she’s not well. How are you maintaining her, and how old is she?

Thank you, I’ll try that. She’s 6. She’s on meds (Metacam and Tramadol) vet said she may die of shock if we take her back there so we’re making her as comfortable as we can at home

A good age. I’m sure she appreciates your efforts.
