we have a vet visit Monday, but wanted to see if I should make one sooner.

this morning my pig seemed to have a congested nose. though it sounds to be in her nostrils, for I’ve checked her lungs and throat sound and her breathing sounds perfect, and noisy digestion. my question is will she be okay waiting until Monday? My vet is full until then.
She is eating, pooping and playing fine. It’s just the little stuffy sound coming from her nostrils that’s bothering me !

Hi!

Try and see whether a bowl of steaming water next to the cage can bring relief? It may be an allergen stuck in the nose. Keep in mind that the airways in guinea pigs are very small and narrow, and that they are not good mouth breathers. That means that you can hear the least obstruction in the nose very quickly and dramatically.

If your piggy is still lively and eating normally (please switch from weighing once weekly on your kitchen scales to once daily at the same time since you cannot control the hay intake by eye, which makes around 80% of the daily feed), then you can hopefully make it until next Monday. Hopefully, the issue settles down over the next few hours with a big sneeze.

All the best!
