confused!

just wanted to know if anyone can give me some advice?


i've had my two girls for a couple of weeks now (rose and martha) and i seem to be having some trouble with rose, she is always chasing and trying to bite martha! they have settled in well and are drinking and eating ok, the thing that confusing me is one minute rose will have chased martha to the other side of the cage and next minute she is sat licking martha's ear! :{


they have a food bowl each so i know there not squabbling over food!

any ideas?

Personally, I think alot of it is just playfulness, maybe seeing how far they can push one another! Alfie winds George up something rotten at times, George will be sat there eva so nice, then Alfie will come and wind him up!

George is the boss out of the two of them, but I think Alfie just likes to see how far he can push him. It can seem alittle aggresive at times, but generally, its playful.

I have to say though, its quite funny to watch! George just gives him this look as if to say " Sod off!"

I would agree with Michelle's post, the ear washing thing is a nice bonding sign. My pair of boars wind each other up like anything sometimes, but when it comes down to it, much of it is just testing each other and the initiator always backs off and goes back to munching peacefully if it looks like it's getting out of hand!

I would still keep an eye out for any signs of bullying behaviour just in case, like one pig not allowing access to hidey holes, food bowls, water bottles etc, as I would with any pair or groups of pigs, but it sounds like yours are having a lovely time

i've been sat watching them for a while tonight and rose has chased martha out of the sleeping compartment of there cage a few times and martha squeals really loudly, its sounds like someone is trying to kill her! i think your right thought they are just winding each other up rolleyesrolleyes
