Hi,

As some of you know I have been having trouble with my 2 baby boars fighting since I got them a month ago. They have bit each other a couple of times and on Saturday morning they wouldn't stop fighting so I put a temporary divide up to see how they got on. At first they carried on being narky with each other through the divide (its see-through) and then they look confused.

Since doing the divide one of the piggies seems much happier and playful and doesn't seem lonely. The other piggy though sits at the divide wheeking and wheeking until the other one comes out (as though he is missing him) but then when he does come out he starts pacing the divide rumbling and shuffling his bum. Why is he doing this? Does he miss him or not?

Thanks x

Sounds like a dominance issue, wanting to be top pig, the divide is a good idea for now. O0

Thanks for the reassurance, when they have calmed down a bit I will see how they act together again :)

Might be worth trying nuetral floor time, new area, toys etc, to reintroduce them together.
Good luck. O0

Thanks I will do, I have two of everything in their play pen so hopefully they can still play nice together some of the time!

Sorry to hear they're still at it >:D little boys ::) ::)
We had to divide our housing as well, but they did always have floor time together and they spent a heap of time beside the divider chatting to each other :smitten:
but as for living permananetly together it was just not an option Duke was the dominant piggie and hassled poor Sully wayyyyy toooo much :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:
Have another go soon and see how it all goes, best of luck O0

I am also having trouble with 2 young boars fighting. They are 4 and 5 months old and have been together since they were 6 weeks and 10 weeks. They have been squabbling for a few weeks now but nothing serious, but then on Friday I did something very silly by putting them in a box which had had my 2 older boars in. They obviously smelt them and immediatly had a fight which resulted in one being bitten on his cheek. I put them back in their hutch together as I didn't want to separate them straight away. They have not had a fight since but there is a lot of teeth chattering and rumbling going on between them. One seems to be backing down so hopefully he will accept the other one as dominant pig. They live in a two tier hutch so I have put 2 of everything in, one lot upstairs and one lot downstairs. They are fine when they are downstairs but seem to be fighting when they both go upstairs. (When I say fighting I don't mean biting or flying at each other). I don't know what else I can do to keep them together, just hope they sort it out. If there are any more injuries I will seperate them.
