Ok so teddy has been living with wiggy now for 3 months.
Teddy is 5 months old and is male!
Wiggy 10 months old male.

When teddy is out on my knee when I stroke him he makes a low purring noise which goes on for quite a while and he lifts his bum up in the air which makes his bum hole go bigger!. To me it looks kind of sexual? Like he wants to be mounted. Sorry I feel awful writing this.
He is 100% male.
He does try to mount wiggy which I know is normal but to do that to me while a stroke him is weird.

Anyone else's male pig do this?

Also my two tend to smell cheesy down below!

The thing with the back end changing and almost "sticking" out happens during dominance behaviour. It also happens when a boy is dominating a girl so it doesn't mean he wants to be mounted.

In your instance it means that he doesn't like the stroking and he is trying to get you to stop by showing how he is dominant over you.

In the past some of my pigs although show no dominance to me will start dominating the other pigs once I put them back after a stroke. I presume this is because I am top "piggy" in the group followed by the top piggy in the cage. I presume they feel emasculated by me stroking them and feel the need to re-assert their dominance.

It all very complex but in short he is not doing anything sexual it is all about dominance and the fact he doesn't like the stroking.

Here's a thread about piggy behaviour that might help explain a bit more. He's just communicating with you in a piggy way that he is 'top pig' and doesn't appreciate your grooming him like that...

Male piggies and female piggies will mount or hump each other, it's part of their dominance and hierarchy behaviour as they sort out pecking order. Grooming each other is also a way they show who is boss.

Oh dear... so I can't stroke him then?
I will take a look at the link, thank you.

It's not that you can't stroke him you just need him to get used to being stroked. I would mix it up sometimes have him on your knee and don't stroke, sometimes give him 1 stroke and then leave it a minute or two then another etc.. you could bribe with veg and build it up over time and he may get used to it.

He's ok when I just stroke his head, he makes little noises not purring.

With a bit of patience, you can find his "soft spots", like his chin or nose or the area around his eyes (where piggies give each other loving licks).

If you fondle his ears ("power grooming"), you are telling him in piggy speak that you as the dominant piggy are inviting him into your group.

At least your boy is familiar and trusting enough to communicate with you and to tell you his feelings; that is not a bad spot to be in with a new piggy. Please also keep in mind that Teddy is currently right in the hormonal months when he is feeling very macho at times!

I've had him since he was 6 weeks old he's now 5 months.
Would he not have boneded by now?

I'm new to pig keeping as you can see lol, I've had rats for 16 years and to me they are easier to understand. Lol

Yeh I think I will have to, I check for hay and other debris up "there"
But I wonder if they smell more seeing as they are going through the hormonal stage.
Some days it's stronger than others.

yes the greese glands etc.. seem to be worse during younger years, if they are particularly smelly you could to a bottom bath between full baths

Yup that's exactly it! Between around 4/6 months old and 18 months old boars go through their most hormonal stage when they are most likely to do all the humping, pushing each other about and making 'boar stinkies' on everything and everyone to mark their territory and dominance. They will settle down but you always have to do the checking for hay and things in places they shouldn't be!

Boars can be a bit challenging and whiffy at times but they are also very loving. Your lad is at his most excitable and feisty at this age so sitting still for a cuddle is the last thing on his mind, he'd much rather be racing off causing havoc so don't worry, he will calm down over time and become more accustomed to sitting for cuddles. Just keep going as it helps if they are in a routine of being handled too. Like Wiebke says, every piggy has their spot they like fussed, I have one boy who loves head scratches, another who likes you to fuss behind his ears and another who doesn't care what you do to him! It's just learning what they like and what they don't and that can change day to day too depending on their mood. It's a bit like dating a new partner, all about working out what they like or don't and learning to read their body language and respond accordingly ;)

Yeh teddy is very hyper and wiggy who is 10 months old is a calm placid loving boy who loves snuggling up to me on the sofa.

When there free ranging in the dining/pig room wiggy likes to stay inside and eat hay whereas teddy is off like a blumin bullet charging round the furniture, it's so funny to watch.

yes I have a few like that, they seem to stop running so fast as they get older, but if you put a younger and older one together the older one often looses a little weight as they start hairing after the young one lol

Hmm wiggy did do to start with but now he's gone lazy and just potters about then goes back to his hay tray.
