I have calculated the living space my shed will offer the piggies and it is coming up as nearly 19 ft square. And if calculated in metres about 1.7m square.
The measurements are 160 by 107cm. Does this sound right to you? And how many piggies maximum would it house?

It is confusing with regard to cage size  or in your case shed size. As a rough rule of thumb, remembering though the more space the better.

Your shed has a 19 sq. ft footprint. 1 piggy needs a minimum space of 7 sq ft ( not that 1 piggy is recommend ) for each additional piggy approximately 4 sq ft of space is required. Therefore your shed can house comfortably 4 piggies. 19 - 7 ( 1 piggy ) = 12 sq ft remaining 12/4(space required per piggy) = 3 piggies.

We would go for 1 neutered boar & 3 wifepigs...

Thank you very much! I have three sows at the mo so they will be happy! I just wondered what future arrangements could be like!

@lisaali thanks for such a helpful explanation and worked example. As someone who gets blinded by the maths I just love how you've explained this. I now actually get cage and floor size for the first time ever. You stars x
