I'm not going on a coach to London tonight.

I realised, at roughly 23:15 last night, when I could do absolutely nothing about it, that I had misread the emails, and I had misread them badly. There was not two emails for one appointment. There were two emails for two appointments. One was for tomorrow, but it was a telephone pre-op at 12:15, and not something I actually had to go to London for.

That was the second email, with an apparent surgery date of next Tuesday, May 30th.

(oops)

I drank a lot. I vaped a lot. I drank a lot before I realised I'd drunk a lot, which was hilarious, and I was drinking coffee rum cola foam too. I don't know why the coffee rum foams with the cola like that but the foam is delicious, and I needed to do something. Anything, lol. Tuesday wasn't going to work, I had too many things needing sorted beforehand.

Date's now set for the end of June. And I've learned a strong lesson in a) reading emails properly and b) hangovers.

An easy mistake to make when they send more than one email! It sounds very confusing. I hope the hangover is fading/gone.

So exciting that you are finally getting your surgery. You have waited such a long time.❤️

I’m so glad it’s all working out for you Lorcan 🌟
Always difficult with emails and dates etc

Panic can be a great motivator, even if I don't want motivating, lol.

I'm guessing it's not a new hip!
What you can do is go out and buy something like a block of cheese or a tub of butter with a use by date after your op date. Then whenever you get a bit nervous or impatient you just open the fridge and remember that you'll finish eating it post-op. I remember looking out in my garden at a very stressful time and thinking "by the time that bluebell flowers, this will all be done". And it was. But having seen your garden photo... I'd stick with an inspirational fridge! 😅
Good luck Lorcan x

I’m sorry you misread the emails.

Coffee. Yum
Rum. Yum
Cola. Yum.
I need to try this!
Hope it was worth the hangover. 🥴

Good luck with the op when it finally happens. Wow 10 years is a longgggg time. You must be so happy (a bit nervous too). ❤️

It has, and I've even remembered to give my plants their yearly water (sorry, plants).

I'm...not quite sure what the emotion is. Happy, yes. Nervous, yes. Still trying to work out how to avoid doing any housework, yes. I feel weirdly calm about the whole thing, now that I know it's going to happen. As for misreading the emails, it could've been worse, because I could've already been on the coach when I twigged. At least I was still at home.

How long will you be off housework duties for? If it’s only a few days/a week then just don’t do it 🤣.

Any longer and you could get a professional cleaner in once a week. I used to clean for people. There are larger companies or individuals. I used to charge £10 / hr so quite reasonable.

What about the goblins? I’m sure you have a plan for them?

My friend Ashleigh is coming over daily for the time I'm in London. They've not met the goblins yet but they did meet Comet and Blitzen, so this isn't entirely new to them. I'll clean them out on either the Sunday evening or the Monday morning before I go, so that's not something they'll need to worry about.

As for housework, it'll be a while. Not just no heavy lifting, but no lifting at all, so I'm going to have to work out some sort of schedule on either doing the cage clean when someone else is here, or how to do it with as little effort as possible. It'll be done, it's just logistics.

Any challenge can be overcome ….you just have to put you first instead of Cam and Bann for a while - they’ll be ok as long as they get their fav hay and veg - it’s just brilliant that you’re getting your op ! Woohoo 🌟

You need we are here if you need any help after your op. We are expert cage cleaners.

I'm so excited for you Lorcan. You've waited a long time for your surgery and it's finally happening in 5 days! (Gulp). How long will you be in hospital for? Will you be able to travel back on your own?

Cage cleaning with the goblins is entertaining, lol. "Cam no go that way." "Bann I need to move my leg." "Cam what why." "Bann no." "Cam stop it." I swear they wait til the last minute and then the bits of hay they've ignored for days suddenly become the tastiest bits of hay ever. Like, why.

In unrelated news Bann's sulking because I opened the window. It's over 19° in there. I'm not closing the window, lol.

Not in 5 days, thankfully, too much needing organised still. The last appointment email (and the one I'm sticking to, the only thing I'm missing is the time of day to arrive) is June 27th. I'll not be travelling back alone, my mum's gonna fly over and escort me back. What we're still arguing about is how best to come back, she says the coach, because otherwise it'd be a hire car. I know why she's suggesting coach, but I'm not convinced it's a great idea, I'm not sure my parents quite realise what it's like getting on and off those things. But a hire car is expensive, so I know why they want to avoid that too.

Congratulations! 🥳 I hope it's everything you dreamed it would be and that the recovery is super speedy. I'm glad you have family and friends there to support you.
