hi everyone i need some help with my sows season. my guinea pig is being dominant and chasing others . i have been told that she is probably in season i have not really experienced any of my piggies seasons before . does her being in season gonna turn her vicious? i am not sure if it is affecting one of my other piggies as well. my season sow (belle 10 months) has Chased one of my other piggies (mocha 5 months) Farley often , now i am paranoid because mocha has been showing a small bit of dominance normally she is the quite one but now when she is at the food bowl and others approach she head raises. and if belle comes close to her she squeals and runs off. i am so confused and i am concerned to leave them alone untended please can someone give me some advice it would be much appreciated. thank you.

Please have a read through the threads on here for more information and advise... My 3 girls have been going through some tough seasons just lately..... it can be relentless but does pass after a few days of what i describe as hell!

Hi!

How old are your girls?

Please read these two guides; they deal with seasons and dominance behaviours - teenage hormones and ovarian cysts in adults, either of which can cause stronger than normal seasons; the strength also various individually.
A sub-adult top sow will generally exhibit more dominance behaviour; especially if she is not feeling very secure/threatened in her hierarchy ranking. That is all very normal and nothing to worry about. Your 10 month old is just making it clear that she is still ranked above the 5 months old that is growing quickly now.

Here are our very helpful information guides:
