Hi and welcome to this forum. This link will advice you.

It is perfectly normal for a new piggy to hide. Will you be getting him a friend? Guinea pigs are social animals and need company of their own kind. If you take him to a rescue he will be able to choose his own friend. This saves you getting a guinea pig only to find they do not get on. This link will show you your nearest rescue.

Hi :wel:to the forum..

Can you please add your location to your profile as it helps fellow members give any answers to questions you may have that may be area/country specific. This can be done by clicking on your username, then personal details, then add location......

Enjoy the forum...

Hi and welcome!

Give your little boy time to get his bearings and win confidence. It is harder for single youngsters, as they very much rely on guidance from other piggies; they are group animals. Just be patient and persist. Talk to him lots and lure him with bits of veg.

In the longer term, you may want to think about getting a same sex companion, ideally from a good rescue that will take character compatibility (the key to a stable boar bond) into account. This is unfortunately not always possible, so it would be helpful for everybody if you added your country, state or (for the UK) your county. Click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details/location. Thanks!
