Hi everyone,

My girl has a bit of a cloudy eye going on. I’ve taken her to the vet and she’s been on eyedrop antibiotics for 6 days now, prescribed for 7 days. Her eye does not seem to be getting any better! It doesn’t bother her at all, no redness or watering eye. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what it might be? The vet wasn’t sure what it was either, but prescribed her antibiotics just to be safe.
Thanks!

Hi,

When my piggie had a hay poke her eye was cloudy for the week or so after, is it possible she had a little poke that could be causing the cloudiness?
it’s good that you saw the vet about it and I’m sure the antibiotics will clear it up soon, as long as she seems to be acting normal I think just keep an eye on it and take her back to the vet if it gets any worse.

Sending you and your piggie good vibes xx

Yes that’s what the vet maybe thought, but there was so scratch or anything on her eye no she wasn’t sure! But we treated it anyway. Hopefully it goes away soon! Thank you :)

Has your vet checked whether there is something stuck under the lid or whether it could be an eye lash that is pointing inwards and causing constant irritation in the same area? Guinea pigs do have them even though most people are not aware of this.

Yes she examined the eye and had a little light all up in there while pulling her eyelids back. It’s very strange! The only thing she didn’t do was check the eye pressure but that was because it’s not swollen or anything.
