Hello. My children and I were just cleaning out the piggies and noticed that one has a cloudy patch in his eye, with a bit of redness up at the top of the eyeball. I'm assuming I need to take him to the vet to check there isn't any lodged hay anywhere. I will make an appointment tomorrow. Or has anyone been able to treat at home? I read an article that said you could give at home eye drops, but I'd prefer to take him to the vet just in case there's anything still in the eye and to give him a once over. Any tips appreciated!

Please do take him to the vet - eye injuries are considered urgent and need to be seen within 24 hours. The clouding suggests it is ulcerating. Don’t attempt to treat any medical condition yourself.
The vet needs to put a dye in the eye to check the damage; piggy will then need prescribed antibiotics and painkillers.

It was ulcerating. Poor chap. The vet prescribed antibiotic drops, eye drops and pain relief. He's eating fine and everything else was fine upon checking. I am assuming it was a hay poke, as I can't figure out how else he would have damaged it. They don't fight and he is the dominant piggie!

Glad you have the proper treatment now.
Most Haypoke heals quickly with the eye drops.
Don’t forget the bribes !
