Clicking noise

Hi,

one of my guinea pigs is making a clicking sound, I can quite pinpoint where it’s coming from.

it occasionally stops for a little while then comes back again but it’s like a constant noise even when she eats.
I have listened to her breathing and doesn’t sound like it’s that, I have attached a video link below, you can hear the clicks and her breathing.

Hi!

Please have your piggy vet checked to see whether it comes from the airways or more likely from the mouth.
If you cannot pinpoint the sound, please accept that it is rather impossible for us without hands-on access to your piggy. All we can do is guess as much as you do.

We took her to the vets, she had to have an Xray, came back all clear, they're not entirely sure what it is but they prescribed Meloxaid & Baytril

Meloxaid is a painkiller/anti-inflammatory and baytril is the standard antibiotic for guinea pigs, so your vet is hedging their bets a bit.

Hello! I do not have lots of experience with guinea pigs but I had this issue many years ago with my piggie Dianna, she was making weird clicking noises. we took her to the vets. we were told she had a respitory illness, we were given meds and we was fine. Although this may not be the same with your piggie. All the Best

To be exact, it was an upper respiratory infection.

Yeah, she’s back in tomorrow evening to see if the meds have helped at all.

Thank you! Hopefully it’s nothing, felt so bad for her after her xray, she’d obviously been nervous and her underside was soaking
