Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have two guinea pigs, both neutered males. One is fairly aggressive towards the other. The less dominant pig has been making a strange noise at night. It’s nothing I’ve ever heard. I’ve watched so many pig videos and no one has had a sample of this noise. It’s a clicking noise. Almost like the sound a dishwasher makes when it’s drying (or at least mine does). On top of that there will be an occasional bird chirp noise at the end. It can go on for a long time. At first I thought it represented fear but he does it even when his bratty brother is asleep.

Please help. I really want to be able to figure out what it is so I know how best to respond. At this point, because it appears to be some sort of stress sound, I take him out of the cage to cuddle. When I do he’s content and goes to sleep.

Thank you!

The bird chirp, well, nobody really knows why they do that. The clicking, again, without hearing it and the context, it would be very difficult for us to know
What I would say though is that if one is aggressive to the other and if the submissive appears to be under any stress, then they probably shouldn’t be living together any more.
