cleaning out c&c cages

hello everyone.
just a quick question, how often do you have to clean out your c&c cages ? i seem to have to do a full clean on mine every other day! if i wanted to be very particular it would have to be every day ! i seemed to have to do it less when they were housed in the outdoor hutch - not sure why it seems to be more of a work load now - think they have just suddenly become very messy teenagers :))
 
Cleaning intervals depend on so much, size of cage, number of piggies and each piggy's mess-factor...

I just added one 6 month old girl to my three and DEFINITELY see a BIG difference in how quickly the cage gets messy and stinky.
 
hi i think it all depends on where they are in the house and also what bedding you use.
 
It definitely depends on what bedding you use, the size of the cage, the piggies sizes and number of pigs, etc. And my boys are definitely much messier than my girls.

I find fleece needs to be cleaned often, but wood shavings/hay or whatever, can be left a little longer. And if it's in the house (especially somewhere where you spend a lot of time near) then you probably feel the need to clean it more so it doesn't smell. Outdoor hutches don't really smell much because of the fresh air and it isn't so warm, I think.

And what you feed them makes a difference. Since I bought nicer hay for my pigs, they eat loads of it and poo loads more! Which is good for them, but bad for me having to clean it. :) I don't mind though. And when they're eating grass they seem to poo lots.
 
there is one boy in each cage (not sure of size but there is a pic on the housing section under "my new piggy palace") there cages are quite big. there are 2 girls together on the top section and they are really messy with the sawdust and hay rolleyes one of the boys is very messy and just poos anywhere, whereas the other is quite clean ! just seem to spend hours cleaning them ! not that i mind but just wish they could at least go one more day without the big clean !
 
it looks really good :)

i have my 8 piggies in a 7 x 4 c&c cage with vet bed and i do a full clean twice a week. with a 1 x 4 hayloft which gets cleaned out every other day.

but they seem to make such a mess as soon as there put back in i think its them saying we like the mess mum!
