hey all, just wanted to check something over and was hoping i may be able to get some answers here! i have been looking for ages for a cruelty free, non harmful chemical range of cleaning products and after a lot of research decided on ordering some bits from the brand ‘minimal’, i am a bit concerned now however that these items may not be safe to use in the same room as my girls? they use essential oils and i remember reading about how essential oils can really negativity affect piggies so I'm a bit worried! i was planning on using the nutty almond floor cleaner, white vinegar on windows etc and just multi surface cleaner in the room they will be housed in. obviously these products won’t be used in direct contact, but near and its more the essential oils i am worried about! would really appreciate anyones thoughts on this, thank you x

I would personally avoid anything with essential oils, guinea pigs are very sensitive to smells and essential oils are one to be avoided.

I unfortunately don’t have a better alternative for you. I hope you can find the right thing for you.

I use Ecover in the house, but the scented stuff stays downstairs or in the bathroom, I love their pine and mint toilet cleaner but if it's in the toilet, the door's closed. Same goes for spraying down the tub or the sink. They've got a range of 0% stuff, which you've reminded me I'm out of the cleaning spray for. But they sell it both as a spray and as a bottled multi-purpose cleaner, and I rarely use anything else.

this has completely ruined my plan😢 i genuinely don’t know what to do! maybe i could use them around the house and just not in the pig room?

okay so you still use scented stuff in the house just not the pigs room?

If there is any risk of strongly scents getting to them then it is best to avoid. Definitely don’t use anything with essential oils or any scented item directly in their room.

We use the Miniml plain white vinegar.

Ecover Zero spray is also good. Not the best company anymore but it’s hard to find a fragrance free cleaner that is eco etc.

We actually use a pet safe cleaner a lot too as it seems to work fine on everything. It’s the conficlean2 spray.

Yes it is. We use it as is on the windows but I think you’re meant to mix it 50:50 with water for cleaning other surfaces. We mostly use the other two sprays I mentioned though :)

White vinegar is absolutely fine. I use it as a mild disinfectant in my cages between F10 deep cleans
