Cleaning Fleece

How does everyone remove hay etc from fleece blankets before washing? I've actually threw a couple out as they were covered.I find vet bed a lot easier to clean.I use a broom to sweep off the hay but can't do that with fleece as its not as firm.

Hoover! I use the hose attachments to give it a good hoover before it goes in the wash.

i don't get much hay on my fleeces to be honest but i shake it outside like a mad woman !

I was thinking of doin that but wouldn't the fleece keep getting caught lol?

I use fleece liners and Hoover them with a handheld Hoover. Then I give them a shake outside. I actually found vetbed harder to get the hay off! U could also put in in an old duvet with a bobble round the top when putting in the washing machine x

I give mine a really good shake outside and then use a squeegee to get off any last remaining bits of hay and fur.

I hold the fleece up above the pen and brush it off, drop the fleece into a trug and then brush the hay up in the pen and put it in another trug. But I do have four 3x2 pens to do.
