So lol thinking ahead now, what do you use to clean the cage? DO you use a special pet disinfectant, or just a normal one? I was looking and they are all coconut, lemon and stuff smelling?

Or would a good swish of washing up liquid and spray be enough?

Ekk I have no idea on this one:{")

I use pet safe disinfectant, but occasionally if it has little stains that don't remove i use vinegar

I use Virkon as it kills everything and because of the rescue pigs I need to make sure cages are fully clean before putting new arrivals in.

Johnson's do a cage spray which is probably more economical if you've got a couple of pigs.

Washing up liquid wouldn't really work.

cleaning

Hi there, I have three cages on the go at the moment and just use vinegar, water and a drop of washing up liquid. I fill one of thos plastic spray bottles with the mixture and use that on the cages. I also buy the cheap kitchen rolls to use and find this quite a good way to keep the cages clean and smell free. If you have some persistent urine stains on the cage floor, just put some neat vinegar on them and leave for a little while, then just clean in the normal way. The vinegar will remove most stains. In fact vinegar is great for loads of things! Hope this helps. :)

I use a microfiber cloth to clean the cage with maybe a drop of unscented detergent it it's particularly filthy (but it's only happened onece when the piggies apparently threw a let's all pee in one spot for two days-party and it leaked though all towel layers). The hay bin I just scrub down in the shower with water ans unscented detergent, and like Nutmeg and Lovelygirl I use vinegar on pee stains.

I actually buy refills for my pet safe disinfectant from the rescue i volunteer at which makes it cheaper than p@h and also means i am using stuff that will kill all the nasties and also helps fund the piggies in a small way
