When my boys get a bit older & bigger I'm going to build a c&c for them (didn't know about it when I started & I don't want to waste the money I've already spent). Anyway, I like the idea of having a balcony area as I can see how this would be easily cleaned but for a cage that has 2 levels the same size, what's the best way to access & clean the bottom level?

Hi,
I use a 2 level c+c in the winter. It's 5 by 2.

I make a "door" using 2 grids from the side, fixed to the upper level with cable ties so it can be lifted up (i fix them in place with a clothes peg when i'm cleaning the cage). However, having any grids not fully secured in place with the connectors weakens the whole structure, so i use upright supports to strengthen it. I use plastic piping (used in plumbing) for supports. It's pretty cheap and is easy to cut with a hacksaw.
I also cut the correx vertically where my "door" is, so it can be folded down when cleaning. This way you can sweep up any debris and just brush it straight out. The piggies can also use the door and folded down correx when they come out for floor time :).
I hope this makes sense :{ . I can't post a picture of it, as it's dismantled in my garage at the moment!

Helen.
