hi, i have 2 ferplast cages and the base has a slight raised pattern which is a nightmare to clean ,it shreads kitchen roll when trying to wipe it dry after cleaning. i could sit there for hours sanding it flat but then it may make the base pourus and hold smells,,,,,,or I'm thinking of buying plastic sheets ,cutting & sticking to the base, if i do i need to run a sealent around the edge so wee etc doesnt get under the edges ,is there a selant that is pet friendly for odours or if they nibble it ,thanks

Can you clean the cage with old towels? Works much better than paper towels.

Vinegar mix with water (50/50) works very well for removing piggy pee stain.

Vinegar is an absolute genuis cleaner, makes my Ferplast base look new each week!

I know what you mean tho, my cage has a criss cross pattern on it and it is a pain to dry, I use old towels too.

xx

I've got ferplast too, I know what you mean! I use antibacterial wipes, just asda's own, then rub down with a spare tea towel that i then chuck in wash. I line the bottom with newspaper, then when they get cleaned out, i take a corner and the idea is i can roll the whole lot up so less crap gets stuck to the bottom of the cage base. Sometimes goes a bit pear shaped but makes the whole thing quicker, generally..

thankyou all

some great tips & ideas :) a special thanks for putting the pics up . ive just come back from b&q where i went to buy some thin plasic or perspex sheet:( fliperty flops :x have you seen the price of it .. thought about £10 for small amount rolleyes i was only about £40 out :{ theres some plastic backing on my kids play kitchen mmmmm that would do 1 cage

Yes I have, i wanted perspex front's for my habitat and the price is why they got conti board maybe when I'm a bit flush lol dunelm is cheap for pvc it would be 1 metre by 1.4 you would have to stick it with pva glue or just aqua seal the edge's ( botrh will need 24 to 48 hours to dry)

I'd go with the lino too, put some newspaper underneath and on top and if it ever gets smelly over time, just chuck it out and get some new. You can buy cut offs real cheap from carpet stores.
