Claw Growth Rates

Do guinea pigs claws grow at different rates? Ginnys always seem to need trimming, but Lunas only need trimming half the time compared to Ginnys.
It might be because Ginny has dark nails so I'm scared of cutting them too short. Luna has white nails so perhaps I just cut them shorter?
Ginny is such a pain at manicure time, it's a 2 person job and she needs constant hay shoving in her mouth lol.
Luna pretty much freezes which I know is bad, but makes things a lot easier and quicker.
Has anyone noticed different growth rates among their own pigs?

Yep and I've noticed Donald's back claws seem to grow faster than his front ones too

I’m totally the same! I feel Rey’s need cutting twice as often as the others, but her’s are black and the other two’s are white (apart from one paw) so I think I might just be more conservative with her trims?

I also have to have two people (one wearing thick gardening gloves!) and lettuce/cabbage in their faces!

I cheque my pigs every few days, when I pick them up l have nail clippers in my other hand and if they need cutting l cut them as l am holding them , the trick is not to give them time to realze whats going on

I do Gibson's every two weeks, and Higgins weekly - though Higgins has black toes, too, so that could definitely be the reason his need doing more often! I also have to wrap him in a tea towel otherwise he jumps around all over the show..!

@gizzy I wish I could catch mine unaware - it seems they know what my plan is before I've even attempted to pick them up!

One of mine has naturally curly front nails and two weeks after her nails are cut will need them done again as they have grown a lot and curl over more and the other piggy a month later will still not need clipping but will get a millimetre or less off just because she is at the vets at the time with her sisiter and they want to make money. It was costing me a fortune until I started doing them myself but I don't look forward to Coco's curly nail and she has a black nail too, thankfully on her back foot as they don't curl.
