Hi there!

Just looking for a bit of advise about my nearly 1 year old piggie Luna. She seems to have really chubby chin, much more than any of my other piggies. The rest of her body is not fat at all she looks like the perfect sized average piggie. It's just she seems to have a really chubby chin! Is this normal? I've seen other piggies with them but I just wanted to check. She eats well, drinks well, runs around plenty and is very alert and happy, charging around with her older piggie friend Willow. Shes just a standard short so not an whirled piggie. I've felt around her chin there doesnt seem to be any lumps or bumps, just general chub. Other than that shes very happy and it doesnt actually seem to bother her. Is there anything I need to do/ can do to get rid of it? Or is it just her body shape?

Many thanks!

Guinea pigs can develop a 'dewlap', i.e. a loose fold of skin under the chin. It is more prominent in adult/older and/or more well nourished piggies.

If you notice that the dewlap or double chin is firm/caused by a lump or swelling, please see your vet as soon as possible after the weekend.

Thank you for your advise! Its certainly not a lump or firm at the moment but I will keep a close eye on it. She must just be a well nourished piggie 🤣. I'll keep an eye on her treat consumption too although I dont give them to them that often. Many thanks😊
