Hello Everyone!

I know some of you may have bought my Christmas cards in previous years and this year, after a break, I wanted to not only use pictures of my piggies (even if they are fabulous models…) but also give other people a chance to join in, especially as it was such a success last time!

So here’s the plan:

I am running a photo competition to produce a pack of 5 cards which I will be selling alongside a pack of 5 cards with photos of the Wulfruna Piggies. The cards will be sold online on TGPF and Facebook and at various events to raise money for The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue in Stoke-on-Trent; a small, friendly rescue I work closely with and where most of my piggies, past & present, have come from and that I foster for.

So in short I am looking for 5 brilliant, Christmas themed photos featuring all your gorgeous piggies! Your pictures need to be good quality, clear and have a resolution of at least 1,280 x 960 so that they print well. Obviously they all need to feature at least one guinea pig! Please be sensible with any costumes and props; welfare of all models is paramount! Some will tolerate a hat but not much more dressing up. They love a tasty bribe though.

Winners will be picked by a piggy-loving panel of judges including myself and Sport_billy. Each of the 5 winners will receive a pack of 5 cards all featuring their piggy to use as they like….

All entries are free, you can enter as many pictures as you like but we must receive them by 1st October so we can get them printed in time to sell! If your picture is chosen we will be in touch as soon as we can after the closing date to get your details, your pig’s details and a copy of the picture file.

Happy snapping!

:yahoo: Now there is a use for the Christmas decorations that are coming out way too early!

la, la, la - I'm not listening.:flame:
Christmas is absolute ages away, and I have loads and loads of time to approach it in a calm and organised manner in the many, many days to come.

Super - I will start the ball rolling with this one, but I have told the children about it, so brace yourself for a flurry of pics from us before the end of the week!
DD2 is convinced that Eddi should have his own line of Christmas products

Love it! Maybe we should aim to branch out past cards into other things too!

I would love to but I only have an iPhone 6 for a camera which I'm sure is too poor :))
I am sure it will be fine, most phone cameras are pretty decent resolution these days, in fact loads of artists and photographers use them as they are so good! Give it a try and I can always check out the quality if you are worried :) We had very little problem with folk's pictures last time so I don't worry about needing a posh camera to enter....

Oh my MerryPip this is going to be a great thread. You said done this before forgive me if I make a suggestion that seems rude and against what you have done previous. I work in the printing trade and have done all my life and deadline data 1 Oct is very mean but earlier they are printed more time to sell. I'd like to suggest a Calender format. On the Xmas cards tempting to put the year on is the norm I suggest not. it allows the non sold cards to be 'sold another year and allows the purchaser to do the same. Course Calender is self explanatory.

Oh fabbo! This competition was wonderful last time
Will have to get my camera busy, might need to do a one sided shot of Grace as the other still has the abscess hole in her face! :(

@David Pet Lover
Dont suppose you could strike a deal for @MerryPip to get the printing done cheaper-if not already organised?

The quality of cards (&models ) was fantastic last time, be nice to raise more funds for the potteries though

Can pictures be portrait or landscape?

I know id love to do printing and it's sort thing we do. But my bosses who are both younger than I see the mentality of in house job as not a favour or reduce price a reward for years loyal service but a opportunity to make money of my contacts so hence I'm at a loss to help as such is very sad. sorry :bye: But i will help in any other way. If a printer is sorted and used before then that's good.

And as I don't have a model at the moment but watch this space. :yahoo: And as I love piggies and will support help in anyway. I'd like to be 1st and place a order for 10 packs. That's TEN. ho. ho. ho.
Thanks for your support David :) This will be my 5th set of charity cards sold so I have a format that works and definitely no dates but I've never had any left at the end either! @GPTV thankfully the printer I use is very good so I have managed to get them done in time before so sticking with the same deadline, partly because I still need to get my 'models' to do their thing too! The more cards I order, the cheaper they are so I usually get my orders/requests in from folk before sending for the print run then I know how many I need. The cheaper the cards are the more profit goes to rescue!

As per the last few years there will be two packs available, 5 cards in each. One will be TGPF winners and the other will be featuring my own or other current Potteries rescue piggies. I know people have been very generous in the past and ordered loads so I am hoping this year is no exception. I have considered calendars but printing costs have been prohibitive and too many other rescues are doing them so it's nice to do something different. So many people complain that they can't find nice piggy themed cards so I aim to fill that gap... I also have a non- Christmas range of pretty pictures up my sleeve in case they are of interest at another time of year.

Glad everyone is as excited as I am!

Oooh, fabulous! I think I have some of Snowy and Quenty somewhere...

Ooh thanks! I expected to need a fancy camera :)) Looks like a photo shoot will be earlier than I thought!

Now I have to choose a pig :yikes:

That's the trouble! Don't want them to get all diva! My Meg being black would look fab draped nonchalantly in gold or silver tinsel! Wonder if she'll pose long enough ....

I've seen this and I personally think it's a piggie money spinner. I've suggested to D.D. to put this on. I didn't know that they are your piggies. I think it a fantastic picture. What do you think your piggies are beautiful. love it. i say Your picture is outstanding. Best of luck Dave.

I agree. I really want to send it to friends and familly as cards this year.

And if you were thinking of printing something else to raise money, I think post it note pads (with a guinea pig in the corner) would be a good idea.
I always use post it notes and mine are so dull (actually I 'acquire' them from work so they have the work logo on) so I would love guinea pig post it notes.
