This year I want to bake several different things; something chocolate based which I had a chocolate log in mind, something involving pastry and possibly something biscuit-y! I need a few ideas please :D I should have plenty of time to gather and bake everything, but I don't want anything that will go off quickly as it'll need to last a period of 5-6 days at least.

:san:
I don't think I'm TOO bad at baking- better at the practical and decorative side of things, rather than getting the foundations delicious XD

Waitrose are stocking their "signature spice" and it's incredible! Makes a cake that extra Christmassy

Baking would be a fun idea to do on Christmas! We're trying to think of fun things to do since its just our family for Christmas and nobody is coming over
What could we bake that Everyone would enjoy? :hmm::hmm::hmm:

I've done my Christmas baking already - 16 different varieties of Swiss and German biscuits/cookies! Unfortunately, having sold most of them at two guinea pig rescue fundraisers, there is now not much left, so I will have to make another two or three batches closer to Christmas when we have our friends coming round for mulled wine, mince pies and biscuits.

Where I come from, we have Christmas biscuits during advent and over Christmas, ideally with a cup of coffee, tea or some gluhwein/mulled wine and with candlelight from the advents wreath. You also give them away as little gifts to neighbours and friends, especially those who don't/can't bake and those who are alone.

PS: I am rather proud that the choc-orange biccies I invented myself turned out really tasty and packed with flavour and were amongst the first to sell out (they are incidentally dairy and egg-free, but I did tell that only to those who were looking for vegan biscuits! ;) )

If you wish, I can give you the recipe for my chocolate balls. They are not difficult, but nicely messy (if you are one of the people who loves to end up with chocolate all over your face) and only require about 3 minutes baking!

Chocolate biscuit cake pudding? I make this for the kids each year as they don't eat traditional pudding.
Make your choc biscuit cake in a pudding bowl so it gets the shape. When you turn it out too with melted White choc so it looks like a mountain peak. Really yummy.

We do a mix of things but usually small nibbles. So we will make rum balls, tablet (scottish fudge :))), and butter tarts. I might do some mince pies as well as my last attempt at sweet shortcrust pastry was quite tasty so eager to do it again :)

I appreciate the ideas thank you very much all :) I will have to search all these things online I think hehe

For mince pies unless you are making your own mincemeat, Aldi have a big jar of mincemeat and its by far the tastiest I've ever used.

We shop at Aldi a lot and I think making my own mincemeat is a step too far this year, maybe in a couple of years when I have myself more organised!

A chocolate ice cream cake? It has a biscuit base with chocolate and ice cream on time. As its frozen it lasts ages?

I'm making a cherry and marzipan cake and mince pies this year. Both last quite well and mean I can cook them on Christmas Eve and chill out on Christmas Day. I'm doing as much for Christmas dinner in advance as I can too!

Can I find recipes for these anywhere please?

You have to ask me, as they are pretty much all of them written in German and have in part been collected for me over years from various sources by mum in Switzerland. One variety I have invented myself and some others I have adapted to special dietary needs.

If you message me with your email address, I can send you the files for those recipes that I have translated into English.
