One of my guinea pigs has just started chirping! :))

He has done it 3 times tonight, just out of the blue.

I actually feel really lucky as its a really rare noise they make.

I always knew there was something special about my little guy :(|)

it sound's like a bird singing, when i was looking after extra piggies (i had 22 including mine) and one did it then at 3am but i still don't know which piggy did it

Haha! That is so cool! If you are lucky enough to get it on video, can you please post it?

Awwwwwwww my Harvey is a chirpper I've only heard him sing twice its lovely isnt it?

It really does sound like a bird singing.

I was making their veggies in the kitchen and he just burst out into song, so I'm hoping it means a good thing!

I managed to record him doing too so i'll attempt to upload the vid.

My 2 other boys didnt seem to like it and Darwin who is a complete mummys boy wouldnt come out of his house and wouldnt touch his veg! After a cuddle and alot of clingying on to me he was fine and back to his old self.

Ive read about guinea pigs doing it and all the others freeze, which is very true, even my rabbit and hamster stopped what they were doing and sat frozen to the spot! haha

i wonder if anyone will ever figure out what it means!

Mine knew he was getting his veggies when he began chirping which is always a good thing for them, but my other 2 didnt seem to like it and both made it very clear they didnt like it, which i think makes it more confusing. Does it mean happy or angry? As i said above one of mine was that freaked out he wouldnt come out his house, and couldnt even be tempted by his bowl of fruit n veg and when i gave I'm a cuddle, trying to put him back in his cage was a nightmare..he clung on to me for dear life lol

Either that or my other 2 boys didnt know what it was which is why they didnt like it?

Who knows

I have a pair of cage mates that were taking it in turns to chirp the other day, was quite extraordinary to say the least lol

Aww lol

I was hoping my other boys started doing it too..a little choir of guinea pigs lol

My Patrick - no idea why he started Chriping I do however think it was a happy noise, I recorded him.

My Josephine (RIP) liked to chirp around 3 AM! It was an amazing sound, but at that hour, I was not appreciative of it! :))
