Broony was chirping today! :) My husband was at home and managed to take it on video, at first when he got downstairs he though neighbours were drilling the wall :) lol

Apparently, a good specialist told us this is a warning sign when one of the pigs warns her colony she can hear something suspicious and we don't necessary hear it, too, because pigs can hear sound frequencies that human can't.

Did anyone have that happening to pigs?

Mine sounded like a Blackbird chirping

I came home one lunch time and heard what I thought was a Blackbird in the house. I went upstairs and into Katherine's bedroom to hear it coming from the pigs' cage but it stopped before I could see who it was. I could see no threat that might have triggered this behaviour.

I've not heard the sound since but I feel privileged to have heard it even once. Well done to film it.

I wish...

According to my sources (a couple of decent books), the chances of chirping are greater in larger groups of piggies (particularly with young boars) so we haven't heard anything from uor two :(

Nevermind...

wow! what a fab video! i thought id heard one of my girls chirping but it was nothing like that! it was just one chirp at a time! i didnt no they could make a noise like that!

i sometimes get woken up in the night to this sound butter does it, but none of my ohter piggies do and its only at night :))

I am lucky enough to have a boar who does this occasionally, and one of my other boars started doing it for a few seconds the other day! :)
