A week from now a bit late into the night I heard the weirdest noise coming from the pig cage.
It was a slow but consistent noise and lasted for around 5 minutes where I checked on them then left to show my mum what they were doing, by the time I returned the chirping stopped and both seemed fine.

I'm totally baffled what it was about or if it even was chirping, since it didn't quite sound like the usual fast bird chirp guinea pigs are capable of. Anything I should worry about or just a quirk?

Just for some context I'm a new owner and my boys are around 12 weeks old.

Hi!

Piggies can chirp but what it means is still anybody's guess.

Here is a guide link with a chirping video and what we can say about it so far: Chirping

Hello!
Cheers just had a read through, These guys are full of surprises aren't they? I wasn't confident if It was chirping but seeing as the noise can vary so much it probably was, Thanks for your help.

It just happened again! Just now I was saying good morning to the boys and out of no where Teddy started to chirp while I was watching him it's so cool!

Some piggies will turn into little operatic singers once they have discovered chirping. My Cerian has been doing the same - she's been playing around with the range and volume she can produce to quite impressive effect recently.
It is nice to have another chirper in the room since Heulwen passed away nearly 2 years ago around her 8th birthday...

Dash has started doing it and we've caught him twice. It sounds like a bird really going for it. He's done it only at night, the first time around 10pm and the second at midnight.

He's very loud wheeker too. We can often hear him downstairs from behind a closed door.
