Just been treated to a sustained chirping session from Primrose! On several occasions I've heard her trying and failing to chirp, but this evening for the first time she went into full canary mode! They'd just had floor time and gone back in the cage; after a bit of snoozing they were both in the hay tray having a fine time. They suddenly both took fright at seemingly nothing and ran to their main wooden house for safety. It was then that Primrose started up; clicky and raspy to start with but then into full bird-like chirping for about 3 or 4 mins. Stanley was looking at her a bit nonplussed (but that's quite normal for him to be fair!) Then when she finished they both laid down for a snooze! My best interpretation of it is that she was sounding an alert about or making a 'warning: keep away' sound to whatever mystery thing it was (a distant sound? me as they'd forgotten I was there?) that briefly spooked them, but who knows?!

Awww nice to witness chirping. I have send it less than ten times in 14 years of piggies. I love the way their little lips move

How lovely. I’ve only heard it twice myself. And each time it felt magical.

It’s weird but a blessing as it’s quite rare. The first time I thought a bird had become trapped in the house. Logic took over eventually...after I was too scared and asked my husband to go investigate 😂

Well 3 weeks after her first time, Primrose had another chirping session....at about 4.30 this morning  Lovely Prim, but could you contain your efforts to daylight hours if there is a next time! (I'm fairly sure it was Primrose, but I didn't switch the light on to check until the chirper had finished!)
