I have just been catching up on the fourm and Facebook, and have realized that Debbie has been having a quite horrible time of it recently :( She is always there for everyone and does so much for both people and piggies that it never stops amazing me! So I thought as I'm too far away to be of much real help, I'd like to do some thing to cheer Debbie up, So here goes.

Furryfriends, aka Debbie, I think you are an inspiration, a star that shines so brightly it can light the pathway for others to follow, a trully exceptional human being. What you do is wonderful in the proper sense of the word, it causes wonder. I wonder how you can be so kind and giving and still have the amazing strength and courage to cope with the heartache you must suffer, and yet you go on. You and anyone else who dose these things for animals in need are heros in my book.
So when times are hard please remember and be cheered and heartened by the fact, that some people think you make the world a better place for people and piggies by just being in it and being you x>> x>> x>>

Anyone esle who thinks the same as I do, please leave a comment, in the hope that a kind word and thought could help make the difficult times a little easier to bear.

Debbie's been an absolute star recently, we've had a couple of long conversations about the health of my little Leeland and it's thanks to her that I plucked up the courage to be a bit more hearty with my syringe feeding, meaning my little lady put a fair bit of weight back on before she had her op today, surviving the anaesthetic!

She also went out of her way to find an excellent vet for me, incase the village vet referral was unavailable.

So thankyou Debbie! You're an angel.

What a lovely idea. I know you have been through such a lot recently Debbie and I am so sorry for that. You are wonderful and all the little ones you care for know that too.

Sorry to hear Debbie has been having a horrible time. She is an absolute angel and has helped so many people and piggies so much. It really isn't fair that such a nice person is having such a terrible time. We are all here for you Debbie.

Hopefully things will improve for you soon.

Debbie i really dont know how you keep doing what you do. The rewards must be huge when you see piggies get better and turn back from the bridge but seeing others cross over i know breaks your heart every time. Yet i am sure those that pass must look back from the other side and thank you for all the love and kindness you have given to them and their owners and for being there in their time of need xx

Thank you all for you lovely kind words. It means such a lot. It really has been very difficult this passed few weeks, and at times I have felt that I can't do this any more. In fact a few weeks ago I came very close to closing the sanctuary. Funds were low, and I felt totally exhausted both physically and emotionally, and I was really struggling to stay positive about anything. Then a very special thing happened. Little Sniffy, who has been here for a few months, and had needed complete syringe feeding, suddenly started to eat. As I stood watching him, all the doubts about whether I could continue just washed away. There have been some very sad times, but there have also been some wonderful success stories.

In fact it's amazing to think that all this came about due to a little piggie called Poppet, who suddenly developed dental issues. I fellt totally out of my depth. I had never syringe fed a guinea pig before and she needed syringe feeding around the clock. The wonderful Glynis gave me so much support and encouragement, as she too had a dental piggie called Duke. Poppet was fully syringe fed for 5 1/2 months, until one day she started to eat for herself. She lived a full and active life and when she passed away aged 5, I was absolutely heartbroken. However, I made the decision to use all that I had learnt from her to help others. Someone once described Poppet as 'a piggie with a purpose'. She certainly lives on in all the others that have been helped!

So a huge thank you to everyone who supports the Sanctuary, and to those who have helped keep me sane when I have felt as though everything is falling apart around me. You're all fantastic!

Well, thank god for Poppet is all i can say. Thanks for all you do, and to everyone that gives advice etc, we all need you as much as the pigglies do so you cant go anywhere x

I think Poppet came to you for a reason, and through her you've helped so many more piggies and all of us are in turn learning too. Chin up, no matter what, tomorrow is another day, as I say.

And in the words of a very wise lady (aka my late beloved Nan)
'Life does not put in front of you things you are unable to over come'

I like to think when it's a bit rough, there are good people out there who can really help.

Debbie, I haven't met you, but I do know the work you do, the support you give others, time on the forum etc...your doing something I'd love to do and it's for all those reasons that I say...well done you.

I'm sure if you needed some assistance in anyway, further funds for the sanctury or bit of support you would only need ask. I know that's the hard bit.

Sending heartfelt wishes.

I would like to say thank you to Debbie especially from my little darling Daisy, who I am sure would not have had such a successful op on her large abscess at the start of this year without the advice & help Debbie gave me & the referral to the wonderful Simon & Mrs Simon, who restored my faith in vets completely after some poor experiences in years gone by with previous piggies I've had.

Thank you Debbie & keep up the wonderful work you do for all these fantastic little creatures x
