I was thinking of trying my boys with a new bedding. They are in an outdoor hutch and I'm currently using hay as their bedding. I've read a lot about vet bed and am so tempted to buy some for them as I think they would love snuggling in it. My only concern is that they would chew it, and as it's quite expensive, I wouldn't be able to replace it very often! Has anyone had eperience or problems with their pigs nibbling it?

Very good question.

I was also recently looking at Vetbeds with them having a lot of good publicity. They are very expensive though when I saw the price.

My GPs also do the same as yours and chew their bedding. I find though that after a while they stop chewing their bedding. Its as if once they make it the way how they want it, they then leave it alone. Its as if they are making it more comfortable, but I could be wrong.

I tend to find fleeces make the best bedding as they dont nibble that and its easy to wash!

I've been looking on ebay and they sell it pretty cheaply on there. I think I will try it and and fingers crossed it will remain in one piece lol. Thanks for your advice :)

Ours chewed it when we first got it, but they will chew ANYTHING :)) They soon got bored of it and moved onto correx, cardboard, our clothes etc!

They love it as bedding. And whilst its expensive to start, you make the money back as you just wash it every week rather than buying more packs of shavings/other bedding.

We got ours from PAH for £33 for a sheet 127x76cm and its enough to do one of the levels (the other is fleece), plus the off cuts were used for the ramp and their bunk beds.

Overall a sound investment in my opinion
