i put rabbit pan plastic liners underneath shadow;s cage under the litter to make for easy cleanup. anyway, my guinea pig sometimes likes to pull and chew on the plastic and eat it! i try and stop him and have to pull the plastic lining away from his gnawing little mouth ;D ;D i think he only does that when he is hungry or wants something to chew on- trust me shadow never goes hungry he always has piggy pellets and hay and chew toys in his cage- although he wheeks at me like "come on, there has gotta be more to food than this! ":D :D he can be a picky pig. but anyway, how to keep him from chewing on the plastic in the future? i don;t want him to choke :'( :'(

Pigs chewing on plastic

Did you ever find out how to get guinea pigs to stop chewing on the plastic liner?
I just started using them today for our piggies and i even tried spraying bitter yuk on it before i started tucking it under the bedding. I went back into their room and they had pulled the liner back up from under the bedding.

This is an old thread from 2007, but I had to answer as I was concerned about the plastic liners. If your guinea pig is gnawing on the plastic liners please remove them as plastic carrier bags or liners could cause a gut blockage.
