Last night when i gave my guineas their dinner i noticed Chester was chewing the side of the china bowl before every piece he took out, i’ve been away for a week at college so i don’t know how long he’s been doing this, i only noticed it last night, It was such a horrible noise and he was really tugging at it, i was worried i would hurt his little teeth.
Has anyone else ever had a piggy that had a taste for china?
Theres a lot to chew in his cage thanks to Santa ;) so it can’t be that he doesn’t have enough to chew, is it just a behavioural thing or maybe a sign of something wrong?

Many thanks.

Mine have done it in the past when the bowl is empty, I guess its there little protest at being "starving" :-)

Edward bites his bowl when he gets his veg I think with him its excitement

Haha i just thought it was odd he usually chews noisy things when he’s wanting something but it was just every bite he’d chew the bowl before taking another, he’s a nut case that pig!

My piggy likes to chew on her hay basket... When I fill it with hay she just nibbles the basket then after a while, noticing theres actual hay in there, she starts to eat the hay. Maybe its excitement? She can smell the hay so maybe the basket is just nicer!
