Big Red is a tad neurotic and somewhat highly strung. He squeaks and struggles constantly when you hold him and if you don't let him go straight away he starts chewing at one of his front paws, always the same one and only when he's actually being held.

As soon as you sit down with him and put him on your lap he's fine and stops stressing so I don't think he's got any mites or lice or anything.

Has anyone else had a neurotic piglet like this or is he just 'special'?

I've never had a piggie that does that but he may have mites or lice or something. Or if he just does it only when he's being held perhaps he's just really nervous and does that like us human's bite our fingernails when we are nervous. lol i dunno, i suggest taking him to the vets just incase he does have mites/lice

it might have become a bit of a habit, he feels comforted when he does it. if he is health other wise i would'nt worry, see what other people say

i've got three that do this, i asked the vet and she said Maggie may have learnt it from her litter mates and it's developed into a habit and Pheobe and Ruby copy her. I now give them little hand massages with gg paw cream to them so their paws are all nourished and smooth. Mine havent broken the skin on their paw, it doesnt even look saw. What about with yours? x
