Hi there, we rescued a pig last Sunday. She looked great when we bought her home, Tuesday we noticed she had green stuff coming out of her one eye, so to the vets she went for antibiotic eye drops. They started working. Thursday we got up and she sounds awful with her breathing so straight back to the vet who has said her lungs are clear but it's her chest. She is on batryl. We started it Thursday evening as soon as we got her home. She seems to be eating and we are getting a probiotic down her 2 hours after the antibiotics. She's eating her veggies and hay and still drinking water and most importantly still pooping.

Can anyone advise how long they think it takes before the antibiotics kick in? Is it like with us humans after a couple of days? Thanks for you help in advance.

Thanks everyone.

Update: her eye infection has gone. Her chest still sounds like she is grinding her teeth but not as bad. I am feeding her mushed up dual care nuggets now too, just to keep her topped up.

Her coat has gone so smooth and soft too. In herself she seems fine. Just the noise of her chest.

We are wondering if she is allergic to the hay we have in the cage. How do we find out? Xx
