I suddenly noticed my guinea pig has hair loss on this area of her chest and I have never seen it in my other pigs (boys) I don’t really know what is wrong? Should I be worried ? She’s acting fine, totally fine. She eats, pee and poop just normal. Plays with me and doesn’t seem to itch or scratch her self?

There could be many reasons for this from simply rubbing the hair, her cage mates barbering or to being something medical. The best thing would be for you to take her to the vet for a check up.

I agree - best to get a vet to check that there isn’t an underlying problem. Please let us know what they say as it’s an unusual location so I’d be interested to hear what it is.

I can only echo the above. It's not something I have seen. There doesn't appear to be redness or irritation as you would expect to see with fungal or even mites by the time the hair loss reaches that stage. It's not the location you would see for some of the hormonal conditions. I would definitely get a vet to investigate and please do let us know how they get on

Thank you! i will let you know... will try to find a vet that knows enough about guinea pig, here in turkey guinea pigs are very rare that some people don’t know of them.

Yes it can be very difficult. If you are struggling to find one thats knowledgeable then maybe one that is open to learning who may be willing to reach out to vets in another country for guidance would be good. We could recommend a vet for them to try and contact
