Hi all - I've been piggy shopping(!) and I now have the following for my new set up for the rescue piggies I'm hopefully going to be having in just a couple of weeks time! Is there anything obvious that you can see that I've forgotten?

1. Ferplast 120
2. Pet playpen for carpet time
3. Giant tunnel for use at carpet time
4. Plastic igloo for use at carpet time
5. 1 hay manger
6. 1 set of sticks to use as a bridge (and to hide under!)
7. 1 water bottle and attachment
8. 2 non-tip bowls (I'm assuming I use different bowls for veg and nuggets?)
9. 1 wooden ball toy
10. 3 fleece blankets
11. Disposable change mats
12. Old towels
13. Cuddle cup (made for two!)
14. Cavy cozy (to make them feel comfy when being picked up at first)
15. 1 fleece lined tunnel
16. 2 gnawing toys

I haven't got them any food as of yet as I'll be visiting Suzy at her fab rescue on Friday so will follow any guidelines she gives me then! I would have asked her these questions but I think she may be dreading my name coming up at the moment, the amount of times I've asked daft questions!

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Many thanks x

I'm really glad you decided to go with the change mats, theyre fab and i find they smell better than puppy pads! (can you tell i havnt had much luck converting people yet!)

Sounds like you have everything you need, just a few things you might want to be aware of

You will need spares of anything washable *EI cuddle cups, and coseys, and fleece tunnels, as they will need washing every time you change the cage along with the fleece and towels,*

Also its a good idea to have a spare water bottle incase it starts to leak. :)

I tend to spread the veg all round the cage so they can find it. However, putting it in a bowl works just as well. :)

Please dont feel I'm picking holes, I think your doing great and your very prepared. :)

Pick holes as much as you like - all suggestions gratefully received! Bum, never thought of buying spares of the washable stuff (as a mum, you'd have thought I would have wouldn't you?! Lol!)

Haven't snifffed any puppy pads as of yet(!) but had a pile of packs of disposable change mats that I never used with the baby which will now finally come in handy!

My daughter would have liked to have bought even more toys and I did have to warn her that frankly they wouldn't have any room to move about the cage if she carried on! Think they will be extremely spoilt little piggies (like every other animal in this house!).

One glaringly obvious thing you've forgotten...

A CAMERA!

We need pictures of your new babies asap! :))

Sounds like you are very prepared, good luck with everything.

If you have an Aldi or Lidl near you they usually have small cardboard boxes, pick ones that don't have tape on & are not bright colours cut an extra exit in them, piggies love cardboard boxes! Also paper bags, if you get ones with handles on just snip them off, ours love these :

Also save empty kitchen & loo rolls, cut them along the length, open them up slightly, stuff with hay & the odd piece of sliced green pepper, they will love searching through them :)

Ideas for things to keep them amused - love it! Many, many thanks!

Disposable baby changing mats, absorbent on one side and waterproof on the other, to go under fleece :)

Thanks Raven, I didn't realise they even did disposable ones! I had an image of a large baby's thick plastic change mat at the bottom of the cage!
