Hello.
I'm looking at the C&C type cage and was wondering whether a 4ft x 3ft set up would be a good amount of room for 2 boars aged 18 months. I have read on here that it should be 6ft x 2ft but wondering whether it has to be that exact shape, as we're trying to fit it into an alcove in a room.
Thank you for reading and for any help.

Hi, I think 4ft x 3ft would be fine as it is still 12 sq ft.
Here is the cage size guide thread: Cage Size Guide

I I have had my 2 boars in the minimum recommended size cage ( a Ferlast 120) for the last 5 years, and they have been ok. But I know they would be even happier in a bigger cage, so after New Year I am making them a 5x3 C&C. 4x3 should give a good space for your 2 to run around and play in

(PS If you are looking to buy grids etc, I believe @Tim has some available for sale.)

I think it needs to be 4ft x 3ft it gives to give them enough room to play & through tunnels & bridges
Boys seem to need more room otherwise they will bicker & fight. I like C&C cages so you can make them as big as you like. Please put a lid on the top if you have other animals. There has been been an incident this week when a dog jumped into the cage.
The other cage trixie 150cm length x width 75cm x height 62c.
Or the Nero 4 you can cut the ends of & plastic .Tie these together. I've found the C&C to be far superior, but others have other opinions. Others have put this cage into a run & only put them to bed.

Thanks so much for your quick replies, I really appreciate it, and for your help!

After looking at different sizes and where we want to put the cage, I do think I've ended up leaning towards the C&C cages, so will probably look to buy one today as we need it asap for our piggies to come home to us.

Oh goodness, the poor piggies having a dog jump in their cage! We don't have any other pets which is lovely as it means we can have the top off the cage and they will probably get the run of a room most days too as we have lino down on the floor and they can't get out as the doors can all be shut.

I can't wait to get them! They are supposed to be for my two sons.......but I'm definitely going to be a very involved Mummy :-)

Welcome to the forum.
I have two boars in a 4 x 3 odd shaped C&C as it goes into an alcove. The bigger the better as far as boars are concerned, they do like to get away from each other at times. Mine like lots of room for zoomies. One of the front grids on mine has removable ties rather that cable ties so I can take it down, there is a section of corex that has two cuts in it so it folds open for floor time.IMG_6278.webp
Ps. The table legs are there because another pair of boars live in a commercial cage "upstairs". Hope this helps.
