Hi everyone we have brought our 2 pigs in for winter and while i am happy that they are warm and dry, i am worried that they do not have space. They are in a ferplast 120, i get them out in the indoor run most days but i wondered if i can in some way extend the cage or get sonething to put next to it with a connecting bridge? It would need to have a base or we will get poo and wee all over the carpet. any ideas? thanks so much xx

Hi- I asked a similar question and got some useful replies. See 'c&c cage combo?' on the third page of 'housing and enrichment' (I can't link, sorry!). I've still not solved this myself, so I'll be interested in what you decide. Some people connect two cages too, with a bridge between. Have a look at the commercial cages pictures. I'm hoping to attach a c&c run to a ferplast 120. Just haven't had time to do it yet, so the hutch is in the conservatory with a separate run on the floor (taking up the whole space!).

You could attach a indoor run to the cage, leaving the ferplast lid open. So the run surrounds the ferplast, or just round the front corners so it's safe.

If you put a shower curtain or groundsheet then fleece with /without towels underneath then the pen on top it will protect your carpet.

You could cable tie either c&c grids or a play pen to the cage. I have a fabric play pen that Works well too, I use bendy sticks as a bridge between the cage & pen. It has a waterproof fabric bottom that can be washed but I top it with fleece just to be safe.

image.webp image.webp I don't have it set up just now but this is my fabric pen, there is a flap that zips up and fits against the cage almost perfectly with one of the cage doors closed. They got used to getting in & out of the cage really easily with the bendy sticks
