Cheap Mattress Topper/protector

Hi, I want to get some mattress protectors but I don't know where to buy it cheap.
I was looking online but 100% cotton ones are for £20.
I have already ordered fleece and bought a sewing machine so I have limited budget.
I've found some argos links on the forum but the products are not longer available so could you please tell me where to buy cheap mattress protector.
I was also thinking to use waterproof protector so I will have 3 layers fleece-cotton mattress protector-waterproof mattress protector do you think it will work ok ? As I want to make the liner waterproof so I won't have to put anything underneath.

If you need to cut the toppers, sew new seams for them otherwise they fall apart inside the liner. I didn't think it through when I tried to make them

Can I use it as a absorbent layer ?

If its for a cage liner just sew it in between two bits of fleece. You'll still need to put towels underneath as they don't catch everything.

In the end I gave up and just cut everything to the size of the cage. Towels, bits of mattress topper where they wee the most and 2 layers of fleece. Super quick and easy to clean without sweating over the sewing machine.
