I've had my 2 girls Truffles & Noodles in their customised home for over a year now and they love it.
We had a 5 1/2 ft tall by 3ft wide bookcase that had about 6 books and a playstation in it in my teenage son's room - so I cut out the shelves ,laid it flat on the floor, lined it with some free Correx courtesy of an estate agent in the local high street who had some spare for sale and sold boards - drilled a couple of holes in it to pop through the water bottles, added the pigloos and toys and away we went.
It's open plan, high enough that they cant climb out,and is made of solid pine,so it fits in with all the dining furniture in the lounge - so cost me nothing to make - if I had the space I think I could probably convert an old dresser the same way, might just have to take off a couple of doors - but the possibilities are endless with freecycle and e-bay!
I would post a picture but need to get a new camera - just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune on shop bought cages.

Very clever! I've heard that, in Sweden, customised "Billy" bookcases from Ikea are very popular for making guinea pig cages, in a similar way to yours :)

Good old Ikea and the innovation of the Sweedish, lol

Can't wait until you get your new camera TAN, really looking forward to seeing your creation! I do like how you mention it fits in with the rest of the lounge furniture too, hehe!
