need to get a few fleeces to build a big cuddle den on my 1x2 upper level

anyone know anywhere online where i could buy fleece for Under £2.50

primark sell them for 2.50 and that is the cheapest I have seen. You can get small ones in the pound shop but they are not as good.

I bought 4 fleeces in Dunelm today, they are huge rolleyes

They are reduced to £3.99 each, they measure 140cm by 200cm :))

Is fleece a good bedding? Better than woodshavings?

I think it's a personal choice; I used to use woodshavings, but I always took my piggies to a rodentologist who was allergic to them rolleyes so I stopped using them. To be honest it was better without as it would get stuck in their personal bits :red

I haven't used fleece before, but most people on here recommend it as it is easy to wash & keep clean so I will be giving it a try to see what it is like! I like the idea of them having something soft to run on & snuggle into :)

I always look at Tesco's. They often have discontinued range sales. 130x150 for as low as £1 but more often £2-3

The ikea fleece was £7.50 to deliver :o

Nearest one is 25 miles away so ill check tesco :) I'm making my 1x2 kitchen into a cuddle loft and I'm using their usual cuddle place for kitchen as i will be easier for me to reach :)

Have you got a Sainsburys near you? They have a sale on at the moment and last time I wandered round ours had some fleece blankets 1/2 price. Worth a check?

I swear by the Primark ones. For £2.50 you can't complain at all. Mine have been washed over and over again with absolutely no problems and I find you get quite a good colour range as well. I've had a couple from Ikea as well but I don't think they are as good quality as the ones from Primark - they aren't as thick.

Agreed... I have just realised I have that blue one and it's really thin and an odd shape...

I agree. I've used the cheap Ikea fleeces for making cosies and they've been ok for that but do go a bit bobbly and can stretch a little. Ikea sometimes have some very good quality patterned fleeces but they are usually pretty expensive.

If you can only buy via the internet then ebay can be a good place for cheapish fleeces, especially if you're looking to buy a few at a time, so the p&p works out a bit cheaper. I don't think I've seen any for less than £2.50 though.

I got two fleeces from Tesco yesterday £2 each, don't know how well they'll last but defiantly not a bad price :).

Do you line the entire hutch/cage/run with fleece or just the bedding area? is it harmful to them if chewed?/

Kind regards Kelly x

I do the entire cage with fleece (two fairly big fleeces). I think if they actually ate some it could cause a fair bit of harm but the way the fleece is makes it pretty hard for them to actually chew some off. Mine had a few nibbles but other than that haven't really bothered chewing it, I don't think it tasted very nice lol :(|).

I line the entire cages in fleece. Mine have never tried to eat it, as such, but one of my boars has made a hole in it (a couple of times) when he was in a bad mood and was aggressively tugging at the fleece with his teeth, trying to get to his neighbour (who he doesn't get on with but usually enjoys living nextdoor to!) There's no way that he could've got to the other pig in the neighbouring cage, but apparently he thought he could, as if pulling the fleece would pull the other piggy closer and within reach!

Anyway this has only happened a couple of times and, even with a tiny hole in it, they've never tried to nibble at it more so the hole has stayed tiny and unchewed. If a pig did try to eat it though, then of course I'd stop using fleece as it would definitely be dangerous then.

That's a pretty good price then! I suppose I could cut mine up & make two out of each but it involves sewing rolleyes lol!

Asda had some, think 120cm, £2-something, under £3 though, in the homeware section :)
