Can anybody please suggest some kind of cheap bedding that's okay to use for the guinea pigs? I can't use woodshavings, sawdust and fleece.

finacard?

Haha, I was going to post something similar lol to your original post!
I find that there are a lot of cheap alternatives, but most you have to buy in bulk from horse suppliers in order to make the savings.

I've found this: http://www.finacard-uk.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=48 but not heard much about them.
There's a sticky in this section about different bedding and reviews them.

Feel welcome to pretend this thread is yours aswell as mine! :)p

I use recycled paper which is readily available for me for free. My neighbor gets it for her work all the time. But, I guess that would only work if you sold children's books rolleyes

Finacard is cheaper than megazorb or even fleece worked out at 50p a week for my 4x2 sized cage :-) dirt cheap!

If you are going down the carboard route, the recyled squares of carboard, premier bed/ bed excel have better soaking ability and keep it dry on top. I ordered finacard abnd gotta say I was a tad disappointed with the smell factor. Back to bed excel for me now. No dust and smell and absorbtion much better. And its cheaper at 6 quid for 20kg
