Both my girls use to sit quietly at lap time, they'd lie down, stick their legs out and have a snooze. I only ever have them out separately, as otherwise they wind each other up. they are 6 months old.
Ginny has now turned into chatty pig, she just won't shut up when I bring her out. She still lies down, with legs out but makes a winy noise constantly. She will turn around, lean her head on my arm and get comfy again. I even get piggy kisses occasionally.
Her body language is saying she is very comfy and relaxed, but the noise she makes sounds worried to me. It is confusing, and after a while pretty annoying TBH. I wish she'd go back to lying quietly like Luna still does!
Has anyone experienced anything similar? At least if I knew for definite it was a happy noise, I could relax a bit more.

You just have a little drama queen!

Young guinea pigs are at the most vocal when they are at their most vulnerable; they will calm down later. Go by the body language with piggies like her!

Hmmmm. odd one.

But her body language would point out to me she is relaxed. I think you just have a talker!

Sarsaparilla is the only pig that will settle on our laps now, as long as you dont touch... touch her and it is constant moaning but she is not upset enough to walk off. Vimto and Widget just headbutt and hands and wander off right.

I have the exact same with my young boar ! It's so annoying

We also have a chatter.
Ruby squeaks when she walks around the cage, and when she is happy on a lap (mostly my oldest daughter) she flops down and starts with a constant purring.
At first we were worried she was unhappy, but if you move her she climbs right back to where she was and starts chatting again - kind of like a high pitched, noisy kitten!

Yeah, I've tried not touching her but she gives me the evil eye over her shoulder. As soon as I start stroking her again, she lies back down lol

I have this with Marley he makes an unhappy voice but is fast asleep

My two do this. We've only had them a month so still getting used to them. They both chatter and I was worried that they don't like being out but one of them quite often licks us and I think this is good? The other one I think I'm realising doesn't like to be out. She won't settle and keeps trying to make her way other to the other one and either climb under her or on top. I think she might be scared. Doesn't seem to like being touched much either. Will head butt you or give you a nibble. She chatters too but maybe it's an annoyed chatter. I find it hard to work out.....

My little boy Snickers always squeaks and chirps while he's on my lap. He makes the same noise while in his cage chilling out. Ha lays down and relaxes while I hold him. I interpret it as a happy noise. There are several web sites with examples of guinea pig sounds. If you're unsure whether your piggie is making happy or annoyed sounds, just google "guinea pig noises." ;)
