I've had Bumble for just under a year and my other guinea pig Rolo for 6 months, they're both males and share a double story hutch, they were fine until maybe a few weeks ago, now Rolo will chase bumble around the cage, he usually won't let him upstairs for very long but sometimes does, it's so weird. Rolo will also stand at the bars and stick his nose out, this started when I got a new hutch for my female guinea pigs, which is much more open then the old one. Could he be acting like this because the females are too close and he feels like they are his or is it something else. Bumble won't make any noises and just ends up sitting in his igloo which Rolo hates for some reason, he will sit on top but not inside it (only the blue one...)

It could well be that he is affected by the pheromones, especially if the boar hutch is downwind from the sows.

I did think it was something to do with that, I may swap the hutches round and see if they helps at all.

If the hutches could be a bit away from each other or the boar hutch above the sow hutch, that would be best. The prevalent wind direction in Britain is from the southwest, so the boar hutch is ideally not to the north or the east of the sow hutch.

Well they're being moved to a shed when I get a new one and eventually I'm going to try to make in-built hutches and there will be one on top of the other so I guess this will solve the problem fully but until then I will have to sort something else out, unfortunately I can't put them on top of each other as they're hutches are very big so wouldn't work and I'd rather not have them in one hutch as I want them to have as much room as possible. Ill try the swapping around and if that doesn't work I'll move them to another place in the garden if I can.

I would recommend to weigh your piggies weekly (a good way of noticing health problems early on); keep a close eye on Bumble to make sure that he is not being systematically bullied by Rolo. Losing weight can be a sign of that.

I will but what I don't get is when I take Rolo away from Bumble he squeaks and tries his best to get back to him.
