What do people think of the quality of these hutches? They seem to come at quite a reasonable price and look sturdy.

I would be interested to hear about/see peoples chartwell hutch set ups. Want to know about their runs too if anyone can help.

I want to be properly prepared for some rescue guinea pigs ... I have an insulated shed that they can go in in the colder weather.

I have a 5ft Chartwell hutch single storey with adjoining run and I'm really pleased with it. Would recommend getting the scratch and Newton cover for the hutch as well.

I'm pretty sure @eileen has chartwell hutches for her piggies. I've tagged her so hopefully she will see this post and give you some comments. Mine live in c and c indoors so I can't offer any feedback on hutches. But it's great that you are doing you research in readiness.

Hi,i have two ,2 tier chartwell 6 feet hutches.they are very sturdy and can buy insulated covers /huggeres that keep rain and flys out.the ramp has sides on,ive bought ramp covers for mine.they are a very sturdy solid hutches.if you can afford the six feet one i would recommend it.i use the bottom of hutch as a excercise area in the winter months and take out the ramp to provide 6 feet exercise area.i physically place them in the bottom hutch during the day.I'm cleaning mine out now,i will take some photos.ive not had there runs.i bought mine from home and roost website.:)

Ooo thanks for all your replies. I do have a shed (insulated) but it contains four rabbits. There is a nice broad high shelf that I will put the guinea pigs on either with c and c grids or an indoor style cage. The hutch and run is for grass time.

I saw the scratch and newton covers. Will have a think about that as it would make wet days more enjoyable for them.

these are some random pics that i have take of my 6 feet chartwell hutches this afternoon.the ist pic is of my indoor c and c cage with Freya at the hay tray!big hutches.

What lovely set ups. I must say the double hutches do look great. I am really enjoying researching guineapig housing!

I have 2 of the chart well 5ft for my lot, I like them, whilst they have the pull out section for easy cleaning I personally line them with lino cut to size and up the sides and it makes cleaning much easier and safe in the mind you have thoroughly cleaned and left no nasties behind.

meant to post a photo too. WP_20160719_19_57_27_Pro.webp
As I am south facing in the summer hence the parasol, clearly I have some of the doors open and the fly screen pulled down but I also have the scratch and newton insulator then the hutch hugger outer cover. I use the bottom left hutch for their food & cleaning supplies, they have a big garden crash around in on the grass too so loads of exercise time too.

The chartwell hutch arrived nice and promptly. I havent got any power tools so will be relying on my son to fit it together when he comes down (my grandfathers old hand drill and a nice sturdy screw driver).

The hutch on its own seems a bit small for two piggies so I will probably sacrifice all my shelf space and make them a garden area with the fake c and c grids that I bought.

I will be collecting them early November if all goes to plan.

What size did you buy? The first one I put together I did with a screw driver and boy was it hard work, a bottle of wine later, two people and two hours we'd done it, however on the second hutch we have a handheld power drill and it worked a treat. My lot have an outdoor run too but not attached an an indoor run (childs ball-pit).

I bought the five foot single story. My power tools are all still at my old house which is a LONG train journey away. Hey ho. I love power tools.
