I'm worried. Charlie only weighs 700 grams and he is 11 months, is this right ? mallethead mallethead mallethead

Well it really depends on the pig, do you regularly weight him? If his weight has suffered a sudden drop to 700 grams then you might wanna get him to a vet, but if this is the first time you've weighed him then there's probably nothing to worry about. My 2 year old had always weighed around 750 grams, he was just a small piggie, and the vet said he was very healthy and his weight was fine for his size. Like humans all piggies are different shapes and sizes.

Make sure you weigh him every week so you can tell if he has a sudden gain or loss in weight, that way you can predict illness more easily. :)

Has he weighed this much for a while or has he suddenly lost lots?

With his tooth problems, it is possible that he's stopped eating, therefore loosing weight. When he's ill you should weigh him quite often to make sure he's not loosing weight. Even when he seems healthy, they should still be weighed weekly because weight is a good indicator of whether they are poorly or not.

My guinea pigs, who are both about 2 years old have weighed from 900g - 1300g in the time that they've been with me. When they were 11 months old, I would say they were around 1050g. However, it also depends on the size of the pig - some are just generally smaller, therefore they'll weight less, whilst others are bigger, so ofcourse they weigh more.
