I’ve been offered some chard from a friends garden. I know piggies can eat it but not sure if it should only be an occasional treat. I’d be grateful for your comments
Chard is high in oxalates, so you wouldn't want to fed too much or too often, but it's not very high in calcium, at least. The leafy part would be the part that has the vitamin C, though I'm not sure how much.
Remember that most calcium comes from pellets and water. If you're filtering water and limiting pellets, then feeding chard 1-2 times a week should be ok, unless you have a piggy with a history of bladder stones, then I'd be cautious.
I'm growing some for mine and they love it! I have it in salads too; young leaves are better for this. It's great in stir fry.
