Have the idea in my head and going to design it and then pass it on to our joiner, who will no doubt tell me none of it is possible.

Hopefully however it will end up the way we want it.

Also everything has to be agreed with the mrs so this should be fun, so far we have agreed on the size, which should allow 3 levels.

Height - 5 foot
Length - 4 foot
Width - 3 foot

More updates as we agree on design

Sounds good and could end up as big as ours ;)

Three storeys, 12ft each in length, 2.8 ft wide and six feet 4 inches high rolleyes Never intended on having something so large but never planned on having sooo many piggies :(|) Addictive little devils x)

Not a chance I'll get one that big.

Each level is going to be 20 inches in height which gets the five foot. The idea then is to have ramps from top to bottom, but these can be closed off for cleaning and separation of piggies.

And with floors being 4 foot by 3 foot then that will also give them loads of room.

Other stipulation was that it has to be high quailty wood as it will be in the living room.

It sounds good and spacious, looks like you are going to have very spoilt piggles :)

Just wondering do you have boars or sows? Boars do, and really benefit from large floor space to stop them squabbling at one another... rollseyes...typical boys!

Oh and if you are wondering what to put on the floor of your wooden cage, I found that viynal floor tiles work a treat- one they make cleaner quicker and easier and it doesnt rot the wood over the years - it also stops the wood from becoming wet and smelling which is a bonus if they are indoors:)

Mine are from B+Q...here is Artie and Harvey showing off their beautiful boarly pink tiles in their shed lol:

Sounds utterly lovely looking forward to updates:)

Flooring is being discussed now with the choice of two.

Tiles or vetbed.

These are the decisions that we need to get right, for the good of the piggies.

I'd suggest tiles, newspaper and then vetbed ontop or perhaps just vetbed in the bedding area?

Vetbed wicks away urine so it goes straight to what evers underneath so the wood would end up soaking...I once went without tiles or newspaper underneath the vetbed and it took two days for the double hutch to dry out....:{

ive got tiles in mine...

I looove tiles, they make my life so much easier. Ohhh and i love your beautiful new cage hun its fabulous....i want one :(

thank you love, daddykins made it for me...them...us :{

Well Snuggles got separated from his two mates and is now in a cage next door but it has given us the chance to test the water with Vetbed, and he appears to like it.

However not sure I would tell if he didn't like it mind you, but I think it has helped us make our mind up on bedding for the new house.

Also we have spoken to the joiner who is coming to see us tomorrow and the plan now seems a bit easier.

3 tiers.
20 inches each level which makes 5 foot
4 foot by 3 foot in size.
no ramps needs as they are going to be two piggies in each level and no need for them to meet.

Have no idea how it will look or the cost yet but very excited about getting this sorted and then sorting out three new additions.

Vet bed is great as a bedding, but you will still need a waterproof layer below it as audioheart said it will just wick through to the wood. :)

We have paper down in the test version and going to also put tiles down in the new cage

Lino flooring is ok to use as well, we have pieces cut to size on the bases then vet bed. Easy to keep clean, good spray with pet disinfectant, wipe and hey ho :(|)

Well it looks like the price will be coming shortly and it could be cheaper than I thought it would be.

Also looks like it is going to be fantastic.

Have been informed that we will have a price middle of this week. We have only have one choice to make now.

Hard wood or soft wood.

Hard wood is more expensive but should last longer, but will just have to wait for the prices.

Exciting times for the piggies and then hopefully once built we can get snuggles a friend.

Some advice if anyone knows.

We have been given the cost and the cost to the joiner is the same no matter which wood we get.

Softwood version excluding his costs is £250

Hardwood version excluding his costs is £450

So £200 more, so the question is, is it worth paying the extra. Does anyone know if the piggies are better suited to hardwood?

As the money is not important, just want to know if it is worth paying the extra £200

Sat with the joiner on Thursday and looks like it going to cost around £450 and I think it is going to look fantastic.

Few weeks before it gets built but will post pics when it's sorted.

Think we are going to have some happy piggies.

you went for hardwood then? what a shame no one answered, i have no idea what mine is made with, just bog standard wickes wood i think!

Hope it all goes to plan, cant wait to see
