Morning everyone!

So last night I managed to convince myself I need to get my girls a new cage...at the moment they have a ferplast cage (the larger rabbit one) but I still feel it's too small and they aren't even fully grown yet!

I get them out for floor time in a large pentagon run and put all their toys in but I feel that they should be able to enjoy them all the time in their cage! At the moment there just isn't enough room for them all to fit in! I feel bad as mum bought me the cage at christmas so it isn't very old either! However, I thought that the cage could be at mums house so that if I ever need to take the piggies home with me they could temporarily stay in there, so all is not wasted :))
(I live in London but mum lives in Whitstable)

Anhyhow! I am rambling...so I've spent a lot of time reading about C&C cages and have looked at the brilliant guinepigcage website and all the threads on here. I'm confident I can get the chloroplast on ebay but I wanted to check if something like this will be suitable for the metal part?

Also, I wanted to make you all aware as I think this is quite a good deal!

It looks like it'd be enough to make a second floor which is what I want to do...

My boyfriend is going to kill me as we don't really have the room, but only the best will do for my girls, teehee :))

That should be fine to use as long as they don't chew cos it's plastic I think, but guinea pigs don't really chew too much :)

But I think that that one is a bit misleading, because the squares are actually rectangles, like kinda the size of a pair of shoes, so are a bit smaller. But I'm sure you could still use it!

hi have a look in the housing section to source the cubes they can come from wickes, or b&q or amazon or ebay but the first 2 are by far the cheapest. those ones i beleive are smaller then the normal ones and also plastic not metal. mine came from B&Q i think if your store doesnt have them in stock you can ask for them to be ordered in.

you can also get correx from teacratepackaging and i think if you look in the housing section again there is a discount code.

I found these on Amazon and someone told me that its deceptive on cost efficiency as they are quite a bit smaller than the c&c grids

Ok, thanks guys, really appreciate your advice! This is why I wanted to check on here first before buying!

It does say on the listing that they are metal but I agree about the size, no point in getting something that is still going to be small! I want to go BIG :)) !

Will keep looking, worth getting it right and not spending a fortune if you don't have to :)

I bought one that looks similar to this from Amazon, the only difference is its a four cube thingy, but the grids are exactly the same as c&c ones i had from another cage. i think they were bigger than 23 cm though.

Hope this helps x

Thanks! They do look very similar, i've asked for a close up picture too to see what the mesh looks like...

I found this website but it seems really expensive:

B&Q and Wickes are out of stock, humph! They do seem the cheapest though. might give them a call tomorrow and see if they are getting any more in. Thanks for the advice!

Hi

I just bought some wire cubes this afternoon, I got mine for £22.99 from B&Q and there is 23 panels - brilliant! Just need to order some correx now!

Tanya :)

Screwfix do the panels too if you're stuck

Thanks, but what are they listed under? Have tried looking for a while but can't find them!

Have also called B&Q and they have none in my local area or my mums area :( !

YAY! Just to let you all know after hours of phone calls/searching I have just managed to find 2 packs of the storage cubes in stock at Wickes! It's back home so i've asked my mum to get them for me on Friday and she's going to come visit me in London this weekend and bring them down :))

I am lucky I have such a nice mummy and my girls are lucky they have such a nice mummy! I know what i'll be doing this weekend....building my C&C cage, teehee!

Now would you suggest I wait and build my cage before ordering the correx to work out how much I need? I could just check out the measurements and work it out beforehand right? If I can trust my maths skills that is! I just want everything to be here so they can have their cage by Sunday! xx>>>

I got mine from wickes. But they were all loose and the joiners were all lost. Not bothered though. I asked for money off and got 20 grids for a fiver.lol NIIIICE big indoor run for my babies

No problem, am planning on using cable ties :) a box that I have put by doesn't have the connectors with it anyhow so i've told my mum to ask for a good deal, teehee!

Just ordered my correx from teacratepackaging. Went for 2 pieces just in case! Better to have some spare in case I need to double up/cut it wrong! Also, the delivery price is a bit steep so better to have too much than not enough!

Now...to read about ramps!

Will post pics once i've built it! Why am I so excited?! Hehe! I must vow to reduce my spending on my girls though, i'm going without because I keep buying them things, teehee!
