We are giong to Devon on Sat - my rabbit and 2 guineas are booked in at a small pet hotel but we are taking Monty our older guinea with us. I cant bear to leave him and he needs a lot of attention and travels very well so he goes with us now:)

We have downsized the car from an estate to a golf and with 3 of us in the car plus Monty and his cage its a tight squeeze so got to downsize on luggage.

Monty has megazorb and I wonder about trying something different next week, dont want to risk shavings but know that is the easiest to get anywhere, and not sure til we get there what the pet shop will stock.

I was thinking of a fleece for the week on a towel, we have a washing machine/dryer in the holiday property.

I just know I wont be popular trying to fit enough megazorb for a week in as I clean him every other day fully.

Can see me sat on bags of megazorb at this rate :))

Do people here think it will hurt moving to fleece for a week, he is very chilled so am sure he wont mind?

I'm sure he won't mind at all. :) It might be a nice change, my pigs seem to love anything different in their cages and they popcorn if I change bedding. :))

I think Il wash all the fleeces ready, would be ideal as they can all go under the cage for easy storage.

I'm sure the owner would not be impressed at me washing soiled fleeces but I can't see them being a problem.

With Monty's dribbly chin fleece might even suit better than megazorb.

So I'd only need some old towels and a few fleeces for the week, does sound better than trying to fit bags of megazorb in.

It's great how chilled piggies are and how they seem to adapt, If I ever alter Leo bunnys routine/bedding he has a right strop, he was in a right mood with me last week for going away for 3 days as he is not use to my Dad so was very withdrawn and spent the 3 days sulking by the sound of it.

My alternate holiday bedding was throw away puppy pads over fleece, (normally I have inco pads/towels under fleece). But where I went didnt have a washing machine. The puppy pads I got were from e-bay and were massive fitted a 120cm trixie cage I think they were disposable inco pads rather than puppy. But with you having a washing machine you should be ok with towels.

I'm sure your little man will love his holiday same as you.
Have a great time.

I do have a bag of those puppy pads so could take those but does say we have a washing machine and dryer. Will have megazorb in for the journey down as he gets a good grip on it - but normally he just curls up and goes to sleep he's so good:)

We take the smaller indoor cage as I have to get in the back of the car too, I shall see if the co op there can save me a big box to make a run out of, or Il just somehow fence off an area of floor and put fleeces down for a supervised run.

Going on his reaction to the Easter holiday he will love it:)

I am tempted to buy one of these for holidays, there are different sizes, and I'm sure they fold up for transportation

I think Monty will love the fleece for the week. Make sure to take an old pillowcase or 2 with you. That way, you can put the fleece in to the pillowcase and wash it and you will not risk ruining the owners washing machine :) Have a nice holiday x

The puppy pads are a great idea you can just throw them away.

Good tip that - Il shake it in the garden first, then wash them.

Got another pack in poundland today.

where did you find this?/:)

I was thinking that:)

you can get puppy pads and fleece blankets in discount stores which cover most of the country but mine are on fleece all the time I just use one and wash when I have a few (4 in total!)
