My guinea pigs LOVE celery leaves and, thanks to Morrisons, leafy celery is readily available.

Anyone know how frequently it is safe to feed them celery leaves?
 
I feed celery everyday and should imagine the leaves are no different.
 
I have my leaf celery in a flower pot; I bought several plugs at the National Herb Centre near Banbury in spring. My piggies love them!

PS: Celery leaves are also good to use like herbs in a soup or broth; they have a pretty strong flavour, so don't overdo it!
 
We were shocked when we found out that Celery leaves are higher in calcium than the stalk itself so yes, its a once a week thing. I believe carrot tops are like this too
 
I didn't know that, it is a good thing I saw this thread. I don't normally give my piggies celery leaves all of the time, thank goodness.

Carrot leaves, like celery leaves, you treat best as a herb like parsley and not as veg. they are fine as an occasional special treat but not as part of a daily diet.
 
My OH has almost lost fingers feeding celery leaves... they only get them when the celery actually has them attached, can't be giving my girlies and boy to much of a good thing, they'll be even more demanding then they already are!
 
Just reading the forum guide to feeding again. I need a low sugar diet for one of mine for his sensitive tummy following 7 weeks of antibiotics. I have become a piggy-poop-ologist as my new all-absorbing hobby & am becoming somewhat of an expert, lol. Eeh, the things you do!
 
Just fed all 4 of my girls celery for the first time tonight, my god it's like Christmas come early, even grumpy pants Lloyd was popcorning over it and we've not even tried the leaves yet. Is one stalk between 2 an ok amount or can they be fed more/less x

I feed two slices per piggy twice a day. It's great they loved celery so much.
 
How big is a slice? I've never given it before cause I hate the stuff. I'm glad they've found a new favourite food tho :)

Ah I see, maybe just one stalk between the 4 then. I loved their wee faces when they took it from my hand, they were all so happy :luv:
